What to Listen to At Work

What to Listen to At Work

There’s always a new kid in town when it comes to online music choices. Isn’t it nice to know that we’re all just a few clicks away from escaping the office? (Mentally, at least.)

Here at Gate6, we’re always testing out new ways to get our music fix while we work. Pandora is an obvious fav, and for good reason. But outside of the Pandora box, there are lots of worthy music channels to explore.

StereoMood is perfect when you don’t know exactly what you want to hear but you’re in a mood to hear something. Simply click on how you’re feeling (i.e., psychadelic, beach party, it’s raining) and it takes you to a playlist of related tracks.

IHeartRadio is a good choice when you want to hear a specific radio station or artist. Don’t be scared away by the seemingly complicated task of finding and creating your own stations; once you get started, it’s a cake walk.

And then there’s Spotify. I’m just getting my feet wet with this  platform and I’m kind of diggin’ it (even though they did that whole not-so-sneaky Facebook tie-in). What’s cool about it is that you can listen to entire albums, not just the radio edited versions, and you wind up coming across artists you otherwise wouldn’t find.

How do you jam out at work? We want to hear from you!

I use iTunes match. The biggest draw for me is that it ties in with all of my other devices, so when I make a change to a playlist or buy something new, it also shows up everywhere instantly. When I want something new, I listen to music related podcasts, or use Pandora to see what’s on the fringes.

Current favorite song is “Hire Me Gate6″, by Check Me Out and the Resumes.

  2. Thanks for your input, Bryan. I’ll have to check match out.

I like your enthusiasm about Gate6.
I don’t think I’ve heard that track you refer to but it sounds like a winner. :)
Keep checking our job postings …. We’re always looking for talented, weird people to join the team.

Great blog with some good choices for the always important tunes at the office. Steromood is neat with some interesting options for mood.

One I’ve used for a few years is slacker.com. The free service is great with lots of stations.

Thanks Andy! I’ll have to check out slacker.com and let you know what I think.
